Buxton Water management buy out

We are a little late in announcing, but very pleased to share the news that earlier last year, a management buy-out for Buxton Water Ltd was completed by Carl Pendleton and James Maher taking the company back under private ownership.

Buxton Water was founded in 2000 by Carl Pendleton and Mark Hothersall who led the business successfully for 20 years until the end of 2020. From 2021 onwards the business was acquired by an investment company and Carl remained as Managing Director.

Carl and James have now successfully led a management buy-out to take the business back under private ownership and will be driving the business forward, with Mark providing support on an advisory basis and supporting James in transitioning into his role within the business.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐁𝐎 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 - ‘After over 20 years of being a co-owner of Buxton Water Ltd and a further 3 years as Managing Director under the short tenure of an investment company, re-investing into Buxton Water was a no-brainer for me as I had successfully navigated the company alongside Mark to maintain Buxton Water’s standing as a fully reputable and profitable business for the last 24 years.

By forming this new partnership with James, together with Mark’s new ‘phone a friend status’ I’m confident that the companies future is in good hands and is well placed to thrive and prosper long into the future with the continued commitment and dedication of our most valued assets, our staff.’
